Retain strikes the perfect balance between cost effective storage and lightning fast retrieval of messaging data. It offers two different options for indexing your email database. Its built-in Lucene® indexing engine works extremely well for all but the largest environments, and is included with Retain. Retain also supports the Exalead® indexing engine, which is extremely robust, to handle very large systems. An included migration tool lets you upgrade if the need arises.

Retain runs on both Windows and Linux or a hybrid environment of both operating systems. Its flexible interface allows administrators and users to tab between tasks, perform diagnostics, monitor statuses and work with increased efficiency. E-Discovery & Publishing

You can even share your searches. E-discovery and multiple publishing options are included with the Retain archiving system. Export the data quickly into either PST or PDF formats. The exported file is fully indexed, searchable and includes a table of contents for quick browsing. All attachments are embedded for easy saving and opening.

For more scalable exports such as entire mailboxes or multiple mailboxes, you can use the all-inclusive Retain publishing client. The Retain publishing tool lets you output archived messages into a standalone encrypted database with its own built-in viewer. To protect any email that may potentially be involved in future litigation, Retain lets you flag an archived item to protect it from any deletion or actions until the hold is removed. You can put a litigation hold on an individual item or on all mail for a user. Data archived with Retain can never be modified.
